What Did The Romans Ever Do For London?

Plenty! And the evidence is everywhere if you just know where to look!
We arrived in London at 5am this morning and received a warm and generous welcome from Gayna and Simon at Captain Bligh House. Our little apartment is every bit as appealing as the photos. The Queen is the decorating theme, so we are surrounded by images of HM, down to the Buckingham Palace shower cap!
After a rest and a strong coffee, we walked out our front door and hopped on a bus which took us over London Bridge, with views of St Paul's Cathedral and Tower Bridge - yes, we are really in London! The bus terminated at Liverpool St Station, so we strolled a while , eventually finding ourselves at a tourist information booth where a walk of Roman London was about to commence. So off we went to discover parts of the old Roman Wall, the location of the largest Roman baths in Northern Europe, now covered with a garden, and the remains of a Roman Amphitheatre dating to the early 1st Century. These remains were only found in 1987 during excavations to build a library at Guildhall - so who knows what other treasures lie as yet undiscovered.
